What If A Waiter Forced Me To Tip?

I recently went to a restaurant with a party of 4, food was pretty average, and pretty bad service. The menu had no mention of gratuity/mandatory tipping/service charge, this was reflected on the bill as there were no additional charges such as service fees, just the usual tip boxes. I checked customs and put 0.00 on the box below, but the waiter told me that I had to tip because there was no service charge on the bill. I asked her why it wasn't included in the bill if I had to pay extra, to which she responded "I don't know, but you have to tip." She proceeded to check the tip box for me when my signature was already on the paper which honestly baffled me. I went on Yelp and saw that some other people experienced the same thing. Technically I never checked the tip box myself and it should have 0.00 written in the tip section, but it does have my signature. Am I allowed to dispute this with my credit card? I live in California
