Son Has Terminal Cancer Diagnosis, Don't Want To Lose My House

Edit to answer questions: *Thank you all for the kind words and advice so far. I live in Wisconsin I am a single dad Mom is not in the picture Son has Medicare so treatment/medications will be covered I have/had a landscaping/plowing business that I do pretty much myself.

Location: Wisconsin.

I recently received the worst news a parent can receive, my little man has a terminal cancer diagnosis. I am not in a position where I can work and take care of him, so I have decided that I'm going to take care of him. I won't bore anyone with the details but it's bad. Probably a year or so even with treatment. I know I need to go talk to a legal expert soon but I just can't wrap my head around that right now.

My question in a nutshell...

I own my home, have some decent equity and I can probably continue to make payments on it. I own my car without a payment.

I have too much credit card debt $30,000 ish - I know...but that's a conversation for another day.

My goal is to spend as much time as I can with my son and not lose my house. I will default on my credit cards. How can I protect my home so I don't lose it? I don't care about F'ing up my credit. This sucks but even with go fund me's and such I don't think I'll have much more than enough to pay for my mortgage, my kids medicine, and some food.

Can a credit card company force me to sell my house if I completely default? I know they can put a lien on it but I don't really care about that as I don't plan on moving. What should I be doing to protect my house?
