Someone Cut Down My Plum Tree

I’m a homeowner and was gone for 3 days with daughter having her first baby.

My neighbors (yards adjoining) recently moved. The man was struggling with dementia and the wife was older. Apparently they are staying with their daughter in another state.

I’ve seen a moving company come in and move things out, another neighbor adopted their dog.

I came home and see that someone pruned a tree (on their property) but cut down my plum tree and wild rose bush and another shrub.

I’m going to talk to the neighbor who has the dog to see if he has contact information.

But what can I do? I purchased my home from someone who was a professional landscaper, there is no way I can just replant a tree. It was many years old and a huge producer of plums.
