[virginia] Roommate Was Arrested For My Assault And Abduction And Didn’t Pay Landlady Rent. Landlady Wants Me Out By Friday. Best I Can Do Is This Coming Tuesday.
Title sums it up as best as possible. I was attacked by my roommate this past Tuesday. This was over a minor disagreement, in which she made fun of my deceased mom. I called her a name and she proceeded to attack me. She was charged with strangulation, assault and battery and abduction. Her bond is on hold. Her boyfriend told me and the landlady that she is filing for a second bond motion, but I was planning to leave before then.
My landlady has been rude and demanding. I gave her leniency as I know this is very difficult for her as well. While I was considering taking over the lease myself, as I was not on it before, I decided not to given her attitude and the overall traumatic experience this has been for me.
I told her two hours ago that I will be seeking my own accommodation here in NoVa or DC. She got mad and said I needed to be out Friday, no exceptions. I get paid Friday. I need time still to pack, and my friend won’t be available until next monday to move my things. I am not on the lease, though the address of the apt is on my ID. I have been here since Feb 1. Is there anything I can do to stay longer?
