Sil Trying To Keep Coin Collection I Inherited

Card image cap

Me and my two brothers inherited my Dads coin collection. we got together to look at it we were overwhelmed. I suggested this would be a great winter project and I asked my oldest brother to take it home and put it in his safe.

Over the years it sat in that safe and then my oldest brother passed away.

So my younger brother and I are both retired now and thought we could start that winter project and I asked my SIL about the coin collection and she says she doesn't know anything about it to ask my nephew, so I asked him to bring it to the next family function he told me no if I want to see I have to come to his mothers house to view it. I'm now the elder in my family and want possession of the collection. What rights do I have in this situation, Could it be as simple as SIL, brother and myself vote on who gets possession?

Should I hire an attorney?

Neither of us need the money and we are just curious as to the value and would like to get it appraised. If we would sell after appraisal we share all profit equally.
