School Losing Accreditation In The Middle Of Doctorate Of Nurse Practitioner Program

Hello, my wife and I ran into a very devastating and strange situation in which a well-known private school lost its accreditation during the middle of the Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner Program. There is a backstory to this but to TLDR — the Dean of the school dropped the ball and did not meet the deadline in which the school’s accreditation is now gone. Obviously due to this, all the students in my wife’s cohort is unable to graduate by next year (which the program is 3 years), not to mention if other schools were to accept them as transfer students — they won’t be able to accept all the credits so it delays their graduation, lost of potential jobs, loss of income, time, plans, etc.
Our question is, in this case what are the most efficient and effective way to handle this situation? I know everyone in my wife’s class are trying to find lawyers at this time but I know this can drag for months. What is the most viable option at this time if the Dean & the school is unwilling to take responsibilities for this? All they are saying is they are trying to find a solution in which they have been saying this for over a year (when they were allegedly saying that there is a potential for loss of accreditation). We are just so lost for words at this time and don’t know what to do.
