Roofing Company Had Me Sign "assignment Of Benefits", And I Want Out.

Long story short, I am in a pretty bad spot. My roof is uninsurable (been dropped by 3 agencies), currently uninsured, and cant open a new insurance policy with other companies because of the open claim. Its been denied, and the roofing company that I foolishly signed their agreement with an assignment of benefits has since sent my claim to a public adjuster, since they were unable to negotiate the claim. NO work has been done on the roof yet, and I am located in Utah.

I fully am aware that I should not have signed that now, and have read horror stories with these. I am also prepared to pay out of pocket for the roof, but am weary to contract a roofer if this claim is still open.

My question is:

-Since this company was unsuccessful, and sent the claim to a 3rd party public adjuster. Has this void their end of the contract?

-Since they have been "given permission to directly work with insurance", through my signing of the AOB, could I go in and close the claim? Or will this breach the contract on my end?

-The Exclusivity/Customer default section of the contract shows a 20% fee. From previous estimates of my roof from other roofers, this would potentially be $4-6k. If all else fails, I assume this would be my way out of the contract?

Any other advice is also very appreciated on this matter. This company was referred to me, so I maybe gave them too much trust.
