Reporting Unwanted Texts/harassment - Would It Help?

Card image cap

Location: Alabama

Hi all, question on unwanted texts and harassment and whether it makes sense to report as I’ve seen conflicting info and wanted to get some consensus before driving over to my local PD. Short backstory, I spoke to this woman briefly (talking maybe a week or so), and we hooked up once in that span. This was during a separation from my (at the time) soon to be ex wife. We are now back together and dismissing our pending divorce.

Basically, I realized for my own reasons I wasn’t interested in this girl and told her as much. This probably occurred about a month and a half ago. Fast forward a week or so after I told her I wasn’t interested and wished her the best, she sent me a picture of a pregnancy test claiming she was pregnant. Long story short, I’m 75% sure the pregnancy test was fake or digitally altered, and I requested a digital test. She continued to tell me I didn’t have to be involved but kept trying to gaslight me about how hard it would be as a single mom and how sad and lonely she was and etc. She stalled on it but eventually sent a picture of a “not pregnant” digital test and confirmed she in fact wasn’t pregnant. After that I told her to please not contact me anymore.

Maybe a week after that, she reached out yet again telling me she was sad and depressed and trying to emotionally manipulate me to engage again. I again told her I wasn’t interested and to please not contact me. I also blocked her.

Maybe a week or two later she reached out from a fake number again telling me she was sad and depressed, I told her again to take care of herself but to cease all contact with me and blocked her again. Literally within minutes she made another fake number and said something like “really? You blocked me again? I’m sad and depressed etc”

Today I wake up and she has now tried adding my wife on Facebook and communicating with her. ChatGPT has advised me I should tell my local PD about this and insist that they give her a “courtesy warning” that any further contact to me or my family will be considered harassment. Is this accurate? Will they take this situation seriously given there haven’t been any direct threats? This behavior is becoming incredibly intrusive and honestly I am a bit concerned about her escalation potential given she has started reaching out to people around me. Just looking for advice on if I should bother the local PD and if they’ll do anything, if I should send one final “hey fyi I’m going to report this to the local PD if it continues” message to her, or if I should just deal with it.

TIA!
