Parental Liability

My friend was babysitting my child at her home and used her own pack and play for my daughters nap time. Her daughter is in school and doesn’t use it anymore.
She told me that my daughter created a hole in the mesh and that she wanted me to reimburse her. I told her I could give her my pack and play and she refused that saying she didn’t want an alternative to hers. I bought a secondhand replacement that’s in excellent condition (same brand and model just 3 years newer) but she said that wasn’t acceptable either and preferred to be reimbursed.
She has been extremely rude and unreasonable throughout this whole thing. She completely flaked on me before this happened but that’s beside the point. We are no longer speaking and she will never watch my child again.
Am I liable to pay her back or replace the item since she was responsible for my child and left her awake and unattended at the time of the damage? And since she shouldn’t have put my child in it anyway according to the max height restriction for that model?
