Neighbor Camera Facing My Backyard Can I Be Nude?
Naked in backyard legal?
I live in Chicago Illinois. My neighbors and I don’t get along at all. Recently they put a security camera facing my backyard. I couldn’t believe what they did. After talking with many people it seems like they have that right. A smaller minority have said it’s an invasion of privacy and there should be a certain expectation of privacy in my yard. When I found out the camera facing my yard I placed one faced their yard.
I don’t know if they want to catch me and my wife, naked outside as we have been known to have sex in our backyard. Sometimes I’ll go outside and nude just to enjoy the weather. But ever since they put up that camera, we haven’t done anything. I was told that it’s my backyard and if I want to run around naked I have the right to do so. But I just wonder if they call the police if I can get in trouble for that. I mean it’s my yard and I feel like I can do anything I want even be naked. Others have said that they’re going to have video footage of you naked and or having sex and you don’t want them to have that. But by the same token, if they post that online, I could sue them and win that case.
I read similar stories online and I read about this one case where a girl got naked on top of her garage for their neighbor for having a camera facing her backyard and that they called the police, but the police couldn’t do anything about it. What do you guys think? Is this legal what they are doing? Can I be nude in my own backyard and have sex with my wife? More than likely they will have video footage of me/us in which case I’ll sue. What are your thoughts, opinions, and ideas? Thank you!
