Need Advice On Getting A Restraining Order In Ca

Hi there, I am a young woman in CA and looking to file a restraining order against a man who has been harassing me at work. He is mentally disabled (but still knows what he is doing). He has gotten access to two of my jobs in the same shopping center under the guise of free labor. He will offer to take trash out or do dishes for various restaurants around the area.

He originally started as just friendly and giving gifts. Every girl employee accepted because we all thought he was just off but harmless.

Cut to three years later, he has my work schedule memorized, says lewd comments about my body, has talked about the types of sexy clothes he wants to see me wear, etc. He’s gotten close enough that I had to kick him to keep him from grabbing me. He follows me to my car at night, leaves bouquets on my car. My mom even went and yelled at him which only kept him away for a few weeks.

He also found my social media and tried to contact me. I have screenshots of me saying to never contact me again. I looked through his following and it was filled with porn pages.

I filed a police report this past week and they went and talked to him. He showed up again while I was not at work to talk to my boss. I’m not sure why he told him this but he told me boss he got scared by the police because he went to prison for raping a 15 year old when he was 30, and attempted murder because he roofied her and she overdosed. Apparently the court deemed him mentally incompetent so the records are sealed. I couldn’t find any evidence so it could be a lie, not sure why he would lie about that though.

After hearing this I feel I need a restraining order now that I know he is violent.

My issue is that because all of this was at work, I often had my phone in my purse so I don’t have too much recorded evidence. I have multiple witnesses I could contact. Coworkers who have seen it first hand.

Will this be enough to get a restraining order? Should I bring up the story I heard about him raping the girl? He has never threatened me, just been sexual. Will that be worthy of a restraining order?

Also will the witnesses have to come into court or can they write their testimony?

And finally what will the process be like?

Any advice or info helps. This whole experience has been traumatic. It took me years to report it because all my mangers never protected me and made me feel like I was being dramatic. I don’t feel safe at work anymore though.
