My Ex-step Father Will Not Stop Opening Credit Cards In Mothers Name

Some context; My mother and my ex step dad (will be referred too as K) were married for about 7 years. They officially divorced September 11th of 2023, but was separated for months before the that. K is a massive dick, I’ll just say that.

As soon as they divorced it was then revealed that he had continuously been opening credit cards in her name. To this day he keeps on trying and every time my mother contacts the company they say they’ll report it as fraud and close the account but that doesn’t do anything. Once it gets processed they will deny the claim and all the debt falls back onto my mom despite never even shopping with the card open.

Is there anything we can do?? He knows her social security by heart and all her information and even keeps on using her old married name. It’s so frustrating as all we want to do is move on, but he keeps on doing these things and we keep getting pulled back. If more information is needed I’ll gladly provide it within reason.
