Need A Conservatorship On My Homeless, Schizophrenic Sister.

Card image cap

I know this isn't the usual post here, but my family and i are desperate to find a way to help my sister. After 10 long years of not seeing her or knowing where she was, we found her this past week. She has been living homeless on the streets of Los Angeles.

A little background - she's 39 years old now and was diagnosed with schizophrenia about 15 years ago. She was on medication for the first 4-5 years which kept her symptoms at bay. She eventually quit taking the medication for her own reasons which led to a relapse.. which led to the police getting involved and them dropping her off at a bus stop. 10 years have went by without us knowing where she was until we got a hit on another post.

We flew out to LA last week and we were able to find her. Her condition has worsened to the point she has come up with an entire other life that she believes is real. I wont bring up all of the details here, but they can all be found on the few posts ive ever made. Basically, we tried approaching her numerous times but she has come up with this alternate famous lifestyle that she truly believes is real.

We are hoping that if we are able to have her seen and re-evaluated by a psychiatric professional, we would be able to get her back on some form of medication and possibly admitted to a facility that could get her the help she needs. However, we have been getting hit by road block after road block while dealing with this so i was hoping for some help from someone with more legal knowledge of any options.

I've looked into a 5150, and also probate code 3200 which both adhere to our situation in a way. Just looking for some advice as to how we could go about getting her some help from anyone who is familiar with a situation like this.

Thanks in advance
