My Work Doesn’t Require Me To Take Breaks, But I Have To Anyway Since I’m A Minor.

I’m a 17 year old with a GED currently living in Michigan working at an escape room. Where I work there is so much down time that I essentially get payed to sit there and do nothing. Since I’m a minor the YESA act of 1978 still applies to me. This makes my employers schedule me with shorter 4 hour shifts which aren’t really beneficial for me since I need money to support myself, my cats, and my family. I was wondering if because I have my GED I’m exempt from the break law or if that’s just for getting a work permit. I’ve read through the act a few times, but it’s a bit hard for me to really find anything that specifies what a 17 year old is exempt from exactly. This could just be me missing a few things though.
