My Husband And His Uncle Were Property Owners Together. The Uncle Just Died, Now What?
originally the house was my husband’s grandparents’ home. when they died, ownership was transferred to my husband’s mom and her brother. before i met my husband, when he was pretty young, his mom transferred her half of ownership to him. so for over a decade the house ownership has been shared by my husband and uncle with my husband’s mom being the one who resides in it full time.
my husband’s uncle has two children and I’m now assuming they will own the remaining half of the property. what does this mean though exactly? what’s the worst case scenario that can play out with this arrangement? we are worried they will try to request rent from my mother in law or want to sell.
