Is This Sex Discrimination?

I work for a healthcare organization as a sql business developer and as a supervisor. My boss is female (and married to a woman) and her boss is male level avp. Another team that are also sql business developers is lead by 3 men and report to a different male avp. Their team is the same size as ours. They have been offered many promotions (avp, senior director and director) and my boss was just prompted to director last year. Is this a from of discrimination? The most recent director role was not posted as it was an internal to their team only (they didn’t get another fte). When I asked about a promotion I was told my role hadn’t changed since I had become a supervisor. I have an additional employee, run our team meetings and the ticketing system for our team. So it has changed. I was told their team warranted these promotions and that they needed different certifications . I have all the ones required for our role (3 different data models , their leaders probably only have 1 or 2 of the 3). I also hold a masters in our field (they do not). Our organization says we deal with different data and are different teams. Our teams are so such alike they are merging us together. They also said I didn’t apply for that job but how to you apply to a job that isn’t posted?
