(soon To Be Ex) Spouse Sold Our Car While Divorce Was In Process. Dealership Keeps Hounding Me To Sign The Title. I Never Agreed To The Sale. What Do I Do?
We are currently still in the process of divorcing. Nothing has been settled in court yet aside from child support and visitation.
Without my knowledge he traded our car into a dealership in WA state, and shortly after they started hounding me to sign off on the title.
I spoke to the dealership today. They have already paid the loan off on the vehicle. They are just waiting for me to sign to fix the title so they can sell the vehicle. I am meeting with (another) attorney on Tuesday (my first one has been so unhelpful, even with this question). I do not feel comfortable giving up community property in the middle of the divorce, or until a court order says I have to.
Maybe I'm just biased and a bit frustrated, but does what he did not constitute fraud? He knowingly signed a vehicle over that he did not have complete rights to.
