Is There Anything I Can Do In This Situation? Georgia Usa
My ex recently filed a motion with the courts in GA. She alleges that her original lawyer did what he did without her approval, and the evidence supports this claim as there is no verification on file for the service. The lawyer she originally hired filed an extremely inflammatory motion filled to the gills with blatantly false accusations. Stating things like I chill with murderers and a murder was committed in my home, I'm associating with felons, drug dealers, etc. Like all sorts of no good. This is of course on the public record (not anymore as my lawyers and her new lawyer have filed a motion to seal). My issue comes in where the previous guy gets to get away with this? Essentially defamation, if it weren't for privilege that is. He didn't have the decency to file to seal it himself, or even utter an apology. Just dropped that on me and walked away without a word. I find this extremely unprofessional and amoral. Sorry, wall of text, but this shit is eating on my mind because as unlikely as it may be I feel it has already impacted my life (affecting a budding social relationship at the very least) though there is no evidence of it at this time.
