I Accidentally Hit A Girl Who Was Jaywalking And Drunk
I accidentally hit a girl around 11pm on a street that wasn't so lit up. I was driving and the light was green and there was a girl jaywalking in the middle of the road, I didn't see her til it was too late. The reflection of her hair from a car that was driving from the other side. I braked but it was too late when I saw her get hot on my passengers side. I immediately got out of my car and some kids that were skating in a parking garage came over and I believe they were a group of her friends. I told them to not touch her and one of the kids called 911. I saw the girl breathing but I saw no blood. There was a cop that was miraculously passing by when this happened. Cops asked one of the kids what happened and said they witnessed the accident and cop asked if she has been drinking and he said yeah she's been drinking. All around the street were cans of twisted tea around her and she was also holding one in her hand. Cops were collecting statements and they told me sit on the sidewalk and later a cop came up to me and said not too worry, a lot of the witnesses said that you weren't driving recklessly. Ambulance came and picked her up and she was moving her hands around touching her head. They had me wait there til they had the ok from the hospital that she's not a life threatening state. Told me to go home and I asked what's next? They said just to call my insurance and say I was involved in any accident. I was too scared to asked if Im being charged, do I have to go to court? Am I going to jail? What's going to happen? I didn't know what to do I was in complete shock. Does anyone know what I should do next? Is it my fault? What do I do?
