Hoa Doesn't Allow Sonar Panels In View Of Street

Card image cap

This is in NC. I believe I saw some articles last year that NC doesn't allow HOAs to ban solar panels but I'm not sure of the specifics or this scenario applies here.

Basically the HOA allows solar panels technically but only if they are not visible from the front of the property. The issue here is if your house is positioned so the best angle of the solar panels is in the front of your house, then they are forcing you to put your solar panels in the opposite side which has the least effectiveness.

Althrough this doesn't outright ban solar panels, its makes the investment effectively worthless since you'll get such a small efficiency rating from forcing your panels to be in the worst direction of the sun. We are in that direction which of course only applies to houses positioned in similar directions as ours.

Would this fall under essentially a ban of solar panels for these unfortunately placed properties? Or are they really able to get around the HOA ban law since it's technically not banning solar panels outright?
