Hit A Pedestrian That Ran Into The Road Now They Trying To Claim Insurance After Lying On Police Report.

Almost over 3 months ago I was in a accident in my girlfriends car. 2 teenagers were playing around on the sidewalk ran in the road and one was hit. I did everything I was supposed to got out made sure he was fine asked him if he wanted me to call the ambulance, said I would wait to talk to his mom if he wanted to call her, and even exchanged my number and I go incase he needed me. He insisted multiple times he was okay only visible injury was a scrap (I hit him between 5-10 mph leaving a neighborhood). Almost a month later after hearing nothing from anyone I get a letter saying I got in a hit and run which was not true as I stopped to make sure everything was okay and did everything right.
After finding out they were lying about the hit and run I hired a lawyer and he talk to the detective showing evidence I exchanged info through calling the kids phone. Again didn’t hear anything after this for months.
Now they are trying to put a claim on my gf insurance I however am not on the insurance.
What are my option? Is there a statue of limitations on how long they have to do this? Does them not having ride of way and blatantly running in the road play a part? And does them lying help our case?
