Grandparents Rights In Arkansas, Mil Filing For Visitation For Oldest Son.

Card image cap

My MIL is filing for visitation for our oldest son who is 7. She used to see him every weekend, all weekend since he was about 1. She would get very upset when we wouldn’t let her see him. Around Christmas time my husband had enough of her controlling and codependent relationship with our son and told her that he could no longer go to her house. She smokes in her home, wouldn’t brush his teeth, has roaches, doesn’t clean, and lets her dogs piss and shit everywhere, has loaded fire arms, and drinks at night. It’s not a good place for a child to be. She was allowed to come over whenever she wanted, but never did. He has two siblings that she doesn’t care about. In March, we moved closer to my husband’s work, about 30 miles away. Since then, she would text my husband that I was cheating on him, and that we moved so I could be closer to my supposed lover (I kissed a guy once many years ago, we have since moved on from it and our relationship is strong now). He told her he was done with her delusions and went no contact. Now she is saying she is filing for visitations with just my oldest son. How likely is it that she can win? Will I need a lawyer? We can’t afford it. Idk what to do.
