Gift Card To A Business That Has “delayed Retail Sales Indefinitely”

Card image cap

Hi all, in December I received a $50 gift card to a local garden store. When I went last weekend to redeem the card and purchase some supplies, the business was locked up and closed without any explanation. After some digging, I finally found a notice from last month on their Facebook page explaining that “Due to some changes at [BUSINESS NAME], we have had to delay our opening this season. This has also led us to a "re-imagining" of the space. While we will still be hosting community events, we are going to delay our opening for retail sales indefinitely.” I would be happy to use the gift card towards some of these events they’re describing, but don’t see anything listed on their website or social accounts. The phone number is disconnected, and I sent an email without a response yet. So it seems like the business is kind of closed but not totally.. maybe a hiatus? I’m not going to take a mom and pop business to court over $50 or anything, but just curious what my rights are in this situation (if any). Thanks!

ETA: I live in Maryland, the business is in DC.
