Father's Landlord Wants Me To Pay Rent Even Though I Don't Live There.

So my father ran out of money and fell behind on his rent payments. Me and him have a bad relationship but my brother still lives with him so I helped my dad out with rent for 3 months. He started working again after not working for a while, so I thought giving him a few months without having to pay would allow him to build up some savings and get back on track. However I have since cut him off, and he is still not paying rent. His landlord and lawyer are saying that they can come after me for what is due. This is because my checks that I paid with still say his address. I do not live there, and haven't since July 2023. Am i screwed if they decide to come after me for the money? Or is there something I can do since I do not actually live there. Im hoping to resolve this in other ways but they are essentially threatening all my savings and my credit.
