Employer Is Telling Me I Am Forced To Attend A Sports Event, And That This Is Mandatory.
Hello reddit!
My employer (who is located in Michigan, meanwhile I am remote in TN) is telling our TN staff we must attend a sports game on a weekend, meanwhile we operate Monday - Friday. They have gone on record to say this event is mandatory and we must come. They are not paying us, but rather supplying us with 6 hours of PTO instead of paying us all overtime. Is this legal? It seems to me since this is not paid, we do not have to attend. But I wanted to ask you all who have much more experience than me to see what ground they have to enforce this?
Edit: I am paid hourly, not salary.
