Ex-landlord Sent Me To Collections Without Notifying Me Of Debt And Kept My Security Deposit Without Statement As To Why

I’m in Idaho. I recently noticed that I have a $1912 debt in collections on my credit karma account from a property that I vacated in October 2023. I also realized that I never received my security deposit or any type of itemized list from them showing what they spent it on. Am I able to dispute the debt and request my full security deposit back due to not having received any notice of the debt prior to it being sent to collections and not having been informed of what they spent my deposit on? I have a recording of the move out inspection (one party consent state) where they said that the apartment was left in good condition. We even paid to have the floor professionally cleaned before we left and have receipts as well as photos of the apartment when we moved in as well as when we moved out we actually left it in better condition than when we moved in because we had the carpets cleaned and they clearly hadn’t when we moved in. I was also in contact with them via both text and email the week before my move out date so I know for a fact they had my contact information, it was the same info that was on the lease. I’m prepared to send out a certified letter to them requesting the deposit as well as the itemized list of the debt so that I can file a dispute but I’m not sure what my rights are or what my next steps should be. I have checked every email address I own and all of my text messages, they never contacted me after I left after the final inspection on October 1st when I gave them my keys to the property.
