(ca) Custody Case. Ex Is Threatening To Reveal Child Victim Of A Criminal Case.

Friend has an older child from a prior relationship. This child was the victim of a very high profile criminal case. Child was obviously not named and referred to as Jane/John Doe in the media.

Friend has additional younger children with someone who became abusive. (If it matters, the abuse was documented and police reports were filed. Ex also has a history of DV cases for his prior relationship as well.) Friend is now seeking a divorce and primary custody of their shared children.

The ex has threatened to reveal the identity of the older stepchild as a victim of this crime on social media and/or the dark web, which would have a devastating impact on the child’s future. Friend believes these threats are credible. Is there anything my friend can do to protect the identity of their child and prevent their ex from doxxing them? Or at minimum face punishment if he does dox the child victim?
