Ex Keeps Making Unfounded Cps Allegations That Cause Loss Of Job, Housing, Childcare. Is There Recourse?

State: Illinois

Our friend “Jane” is a single mom with a special medical needs baby. Her ex and his GF keep making accusations to CPS that result in open cases against her. (Ex currently has no legal rights to the baby, if that’s relevant.) CPS investigates and finds the allegations to be unfounded (baby is doing great, mom is doing great). But because of the open cases, she loses jobs at the background check stage of the hiring process. And because she doesn’t have a high enough paying job, she doesn’t qualify for assisted childcare and housing. So she goes back to a shelter and starts the process over. It seems that CPS will continue to take and investigate reports against her (because they should investigate reports!).

Is there any protection against this? It feels like abuse, or harassment, or maybe even tortious interference (causing open cases right before landing a job). Any advice?
