Did I Commit Fraud On A Death Certificate?

South Carolina
My partner and I have been together for 8 years and since the beginning I’ve been heavily involved in caring for his mom with Alzheimer’s. We were never officially married but we consider ourselves married, presenting each other as husband/wife and to my partners mother as my mother in law.
We had several tragedies hit our family at once and when we were notified his mom needed to be moved to hospice to undertook ironing out the details to take some of the weight off. I contacted the cremation services and filled out their paperwork. When it asked my relation to the deceased I selected daughter in law.
Even with the hospice move her passing caught us completely by surprise and we were scrambling to get everything handled while caring for our two toddlers. I signed the paperwork as the informant (?) on her death and familial info. I didn’t think anything of it at the time as we were both kind of frenzied.
Today we got the death certificate and I’m listed officially on it as her daughter in law. How badly did I mess up here?
If it makes a difference I think we could make a solid case that he and I were already common law married prior to SC repealing the common law statute.
