Ca: Guy Claiming I Hit His Car Who Left The Scene

Card image cap

Yesterday I was in stop and go traffic in Los Angeles and the guy in front of me slammed on his brakes so I did as well. Admittedly I was very close to hitting his car but no contact was made. He beckoned for me to pull over so I did basically as a courtesy which maybe I shouldn’t have. Now, my front bumper has been majorly damaged for over a year. I have proof of this as I have posted photos of my car on a car website months back asking for a body quote. Anyways, the guy gets out and starts saying my bumper was damaged from me hitting his car and he starts pointing at two very small scratches on the back of his bumper which don’t match mine. His bumper also looked freshly painted blue (poorly.. could see brush strokes) and I have a white car- there was no white paint on his car. He asked me for my insurance card and I said I don’t have it printed out but I have it on my phone. As i’m looking for it he asks for my phone # and then says he has to go and speeds off. He starts texting me asking for my insurance information and I remind him that I didn’t hit his car and had only pulled over as a courtesy and that the scratches on his car don’t line up with my car anyway, and that he also left “the scene”. He said “You hitting me moved me from my seat and I’m done speaking with you I have enough with your plate number”. I told him filing a false claim in considered fraud in CA. Is there anything else I should do? Should I be worried about this?

UPDATE: Guy had a scammy lawyer (according to Yelp) call me and leave me a voicemail asking for a callback
