Cousin Pepper Sprayed A Dog
Hello everyone! My cousin pepper sprayed a dog that was running at him fast and unleashed outside. He described it as a mix looking dog that wasn’t small or big. It sounds like the dog was anywhere from 20 pounds to 40 pounds. (Ever since he was attacked by a dog when he was six he’s had a phobia of dogs attacking him.)
Once he pepper sprayed the dog, it stopped and started pawing it’s own face. (The dog never reached him or touched him) Which is when my cousin ran away. While he was running away, he could hear the owner yelling from a distance saying that he knows who he is, that he will call the police and sue him.
My cousin just called me about it and he is a nervous wreck since he is someone that likes to stay low and not have conflict.
How much trouble is he in if any and what should he do? I told him he should call the non emergency number and report it but he says he doesn’t want himself or the owner to get in trouble.
We live in Montgomery county Maryland. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
