Conflict Advice

I have what I believe to be a strong small claims court case (roughly $5k) against a DBA of a multiple billion dollar market cap, publicly traded corporation for three things they failed to do per a purchase agreement I have with them. Up to this point, I’ve filed a complaint with the state’s DoJ consumer protection division and the state regulators who oversee the specific business unit I have a dispute with. So far the DoJ has concluded their process, which wasn’t much. The state regulators are however showing interest. I’ve also placed negative reviews on yelp, Google etc (which I have since deleted). I have not yet pulled back my complaints with either govt agency.

I was preparing to file the small claims paperwork yesterday when I discovered that the law firm their parent company uses, which is the largest in our state, is also a client of my wife. She’s a contracted financial advisor for them. If that firm were to get involved (it’s possible but not likely given the size of the claim and that they have in-house council) and put two and two together, it could turn out to be penny wise but very pound foolish for me to pursue this $5k. What they did was wrong, they very blatantly stole from me and while I can eat the loss, not to mention court isn’t ever a guarantee, I’m not happy that they are potentially going to get away with it. My ego tells me that if it did ever come up, “tell your client to stop stealing” would be my response but that would probably go over like a lead balloon…..

Is there anything I can do here? Should I just walk away and take my lumps?
