Condo Assoc Put Lien On My Property

My partner and I have received a lien about 1 week ago, it was due to unpaid dues including attorney fees totaling 6.6k. (i know its a long story ) We have made arrangements and got in contact with the attorney's representing the condo to make a down payment and payment plan.

They told to us send in writing a response and we are at a loss for what to say in the paper. We can't afford a lawyer. I don't know what anything on the papers served to us means.

One of the issues here is that my mother in law also got involved, she told us that we 'own' the condo because she wrote up a Quit Claim Deed 2 years ago that we all signed and sent to the appropriate filing place.

Partner and mother in law do not have a good relationship, so we are wondering if there's anything she can to do us regarding this whole situation. The mortgage is also in her name and has refused the efforts to get it in our name.

How far does a lien go? Does the state garnish wages?

Also we are in Alaska if that helps.
