Advice On Child Support Regarding A Person That Abandoned Their Child.

Please no hate, just advice. Can I go for back pay child support for my 12 year old daughter? Her biological father hasn’t paid or contributed a cent to her since she has been born and has not been in her life. How does going for full custody or child support work if it has been so long? I just never had the financial means to dish out for legal fees, but if it helps I had 52 domestic violence calls from neighbors during our relationship that called on him for beating me. I ended the relationship but he never tried to be there nor contribute. Just wondering my options. Thank you
