Details
From Butte, Montana. Boarded Lusitania as 3rd class with her parents Katherine and John and siblings John Jr (5) Jeremiah "Bernie" (15 months). On May 7, 1915 the huge liner was struck by a torpedo from a German U-boat in the middle of the Mid-Atlantic Ocean. Katherine and her two sons somehow survived the disaster. John and Margaret perished. Only Margaret's body was recovered.
The Story
2. The people who recovered Margaret's body stating they saw her eyes were open and she was smiling and she had a bruise on her left cheek.
