Cheryl Lynn Downs was shot by her mother Diane Downs along with her older sister Christie (8) and little brother Simon (3). The oldest sister survived but had a stroke and was soon the one to testify. The little brother survived as well but was paralyzed. Only Cheryl died from the gunshot wounds. Diane first blamed in on a bushy-haired stranger and then on February 28, 1984 she was put on trial.
