Youngest son of Abraham Baumgart and Chana Baumgart (nee Kociolek). Roland and his older brother Bernard (8) were interned at Lalande camp since 1940. They were deported on convoy 36 on September 23, 1942 and watched their parents being deported on Convoy 8.

Roland would have been six years old five days later.
