Wrongfully Sued

Location: California.

Hello all! I recently got a letter in the mail from a law firm basically saying that they specialize in representing people that are sued for credit card debt collections. They stated that they found evidence that I had been sued and that I can reach out to them for a free legal consultation. I was very confused because I had never been served and most importantly I am not in collections. They provided the case number for my case so I went online to my county's court website and looked up the case with the case number provided. The case did exist and I was indeed being sued by Capital One for collections.

I have never had an account with Capital One ever so I was now very confused! I called Capital One and they used all the means they could with my the information I provided and found that nobody with my information had ever held an account with Capital One (I already knew this but wanted to confirm with them in case I had somehow forgotten).

In the register of actions for the case I saw I was able to buy and download the case documents so I got the most important ones: "Proof of non-service" and "Complaint by Capital One".

The Proof of non-service basically said that the person sent to serve me wasn't able to find me. The address stated in the document is one I have never lived in so I guess they somehow got my name mixed up with someone else?

The Complaint by Capital One document had the last four digits of the account I supposedly had with Capital One and also the amount owed. All the cards (debit/credit) I have ever owed I still have in my wallet and again none of them match the one stated in the complaint.

I am wondering what I should do now? From what I know since they haven't actually served me the case can't continue unless I am wrong. Should I contact the law firm working for Capital One (stated in the case) and inform them of the mistaken identity?
