Wife Made False Allegations To Get Custody Of Children.

I'll try to make this as short as possible. I asked wife to leave because she was abusing the children. I tried getting her to get therapy but she said she didnt have time because of work. I was able to get a pastor to come to our home for marriage counseling. She reluctantly agreed but after the second session she said she would no longer participate. After a few more months I couldnt take it anymore and thats when I asked her to leave. She asked me to give her time so she could find a place and I said ok. One day shes at the door with the kids and said shes leaving with them while holding a kitchen knife. As I didnt want her to accidently stab the children (3 and 4) I decided Id have to find a way to get children back after. I waited for her near her job as I found out she was taking the children to work and called the police. She showed them something on her phone and I tried to see but she pulled her phone back. The police got mad at me after they looked at it and told me to leave and not to ever come to where she works again. After a few days of asking myself what was it that she showed them I remembered a story she told me about a friend of hers that made false accusations of domestic violence to get a whole bunch of government assistance. That had to be it. When we went to court (I had gotten a lawyer by now) at our first hearing, she told the judge she was in fact at a DV shelter. Its been 6 months since she left with the children and we have the custody trial beginning next month. I dont know if shes going to claim it was domestic abuse towards her or the children. My lawyer says that since the children are already living with her, its going to be hard to get even 50/50 custody. I dont know what to do. Im now in therapy for anxiety and depression. I get panic attacks in fear of what she might do to the children. For context ill add that this is in NYC and I am (or was) a stay at home dad.
