Wife Kept Her Assets/money Separate After Spending All Of My Money
In California, After 10 years of me paying 100% of our bills; my wife of 8 years decided to keep her $3m inheritance separate and won’t provide any financial support to me or our 3 children.
Her spending has been out of control, and she has blown through my $740k savings and racked up our credit cards. We have been in therapy and she won’t budge saying I need to make more money—I currently make $210k salary plus retirement benefits. We’ve had to scale back hobbies and support for the kids and my credit score is ruined.
I am planning to divorce her soon, I get that inheritance is completely separate in CA, but I’ve been paying the umbrella insurance and taxes on the $3m for a few years. If not for me, can any of this be clawed back for the kids?
