Tint Shop Did A Terrible Job And Damaged My Car In Am I Justified In Disputing The Charge And Asking For Repair Costs?
I wanted to get some opinions on whether I’m being fair here.
I recently paid $250 to get my car tinted at a local shop. The tint came with a lifetime warranty, but the job turned out terrible. The front windows had bubbles and the rear windshield tint was full of streaks and uneven spots. I took the car back to the installer, and he told me it was “supposed to look like that” and to give it a few days for the tint to flatten out.
It didn’t improve at all, so I had another professional take a look. He showed me that the rubber weatherstripping around my front windows was actually cut, most likely from the razor blade the first shop used when trimming the film. He told me the whole tint job would need to be redone and that the damaged weatherstrip would have to be replaced by the dealership.
I’m planning to dispute the $250 tint charge with my bank since the work was unusable, and also ask the tint shop to pay for the weatherstripping repair since that damage wasn’t there before.
Does that sound reasonable? Has anyone else dealt with something similar where a tint shop caused actual damage to the car?
