Threatened With Warrant For Alleged Property Damage Nc

Card image cap

I’m being contacted on my work phone by the owner of a bar who claims I damaged his urinal so badly it separated from the wall. He’s threatening that if I don’t contact him to “arrange repairs” that he will pursue a warrant against me. He says he already has contacted the police and they told him he should request a petition for a warrant based on the evidence he has. He’s using scare tactics saying that the police will show up at my work to serve a warrant.

Would this level of damage constitute a criminal case, or would this only be a civil suit if he chose to pursue it?

Assuming he has video of me going into the bar bathroom (the only evidence he could claim), would this be enough to get a warrant against me? Is this something that the court would throw out?

It seems to me that only eyewitness testimony (someone in the bathroom) or video footage of the bathroom would constitute enough evidence to press charges.

How should I handle this? Do I need to be concerned about criminal charges being filed against me?

Any advice is welcome, Thank you for your help.
