Pa - Missing Headstone; No Contact From Cemetery
Hey folks,
I'll keep this brief-ish.
My father passed in January 2023. We ordered his headstone through the cemetery in June 2023 with assurance that it would be up during the fall, definitely by winter.
Mid-December, we contacted the cemetery to inquire as to why the headstone hadn't been placed. Over two months, (Dec-Feb'24), we called multiple times and left voicemails only to receive no response. We would frequently drive out to the cemetery offices only to find no one there. If there's a car, we'll knock - no answer, no one out and around the grounds either.
A friend suggested contacting the township offices back in March. We spoke with someone who assured us that either the cemetery management would be contacting us that day, or the township would "file criminal charges of fraud against them." We received a call that day from management who explained that it was still too wet out there and that they would have it installed within a month. Well, it's the end of May and it still hasn't been installed. We have been calling and leaves messages from my number, my mother's number, and my brother's number, only to receive no responses. Same deal with stopping out there.
I called the township offices today and they had no recollection of the previous conversation. The assistant said that she would contact the management, but "he's very busy at this time of year and hard to get ahold of because he's always working."
It's been almost a year since the $5,000 stone was ordered and we have yet to even see it, let alone have it placed.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to best approach this?
