Texas - Doctor Gave Me A Medicine That Is Not Meant To Be Taken For An Extended Period Of Time And Has Been Encouraging Me To Take It For Two And A Half Years, And I Am Experiencing Bad Effects. Is This Malpractice?

I am 16 and first went to my doctor for chronic pain in my jaw when I was 13. She told me to "chew more gum" (no, that is not a joke, she said my jaw pain was caused by a lack of exercise) and take 3 doses of ibuprofen daily (before school, during school, and before bed; this adds up to 6 Ibuprofen a day). When I was 13, I was about 110 lbs and 5'2.

Most doctors say that you should not take Ibuprofen for too long, as it can cause liver failure, kidney failure, and stomach issues. I started having excessive thirst and the need to pee more often, which are two signs of kidney failure a few months ago. These past few weeks, I've been experiencing sudden bouts of extreme nausea that only go away if I sleep. I've also been having trouble sleeping (another sign of kidney failure) for a while now.

I told my doctor about excessive thirst and joint/muscle pain aside from my chronic jaw and hip pain. She told me she will recommend me to a rheumatologist, but did not address either of my concerns aside from that. This is nowhere near the first time she has brushed my concerns away. I've been having chronic pain since I was 13 years old and it took her two and a half years to recommend me to a rheumatologist - she's been telling me to just exercise more, but it hurts me to exercise.

Is this malpractice, negligence, or something else? What is the recommended legal action?
