Should I Hire My Own Attorney?

We had our first hearing on Monday for a custody case where CPS is involved. There's no abuse or neglect invovled. No drugs involved. My daughter is currently with a foster as of now. Story: I went in to the ER, voluntarily, on Friday to get help for me having suicidal thoughts. While I was there, I got asked if someone could come and get the baby. I said no and so then CPS came and got the baby using an order of removal. I should add that in that moment i thought that i had nobody to take her, but after talking qith relatives & friends. I found out that they wouldve taken her. Soon after I went inpatient. I was in for 4 days and got discharged. Fast forward to thus week, and now CPS is withholding custody from us, because they're worried that if I had another medical emergency. That she wouldn't have somewhere to go. From what I understand, that is the ONLY reason. They wanted a family plan initially, but now they're saying I need to be evaluated to see where I am psychologically, and multiple other things it seems like they're adding on. I should also add that my husband being in the military adds another layer to this. They appointed an attorney for us, but I looked her up and im not too certain that I want to fully trust the attorney they gave us. I want to get my own attorney, but my husband wants me to see what the attorney they gave us will do before hiring another.
Edit: My husband was deployed during that time and so he couldn't come and get the baby We have a court date in 30 days.
