Received An Iowa 3 Day Notice To Quit

Card image cap

I received a 3 day notice to leave property in accordance with I.C.A 562A.27, 562A.27A (Creating a clear and present danger to others.)

For context, I am a co-tenant with my now Ex Girlfriend. We had a messy breakup a few weeks ago and have since been resentful of each other. She has told me many times that I am the one who needs to move out, I said no because I have no safety net, no family, and nothing in Iowa.

This morning the landlord came to the property for an inspection, and at the end told me that I needed to leave in 3 days. She had sent him photos of a pipe and a beaker, among other things. None of these things are in my possession or in the home whatsoever. The photos also have no connection to me at all. He threatened to do drug tests on the property and if positive, would get the law involved on me and me only.

I took the paper and said nothing, going to straight to researching. I find it hard to believe that photos can get some evicted, especially when I am not in them and there is no proof I owned them.

Now what I want to know, is if this is legal. Do I have any chance of getting this removed. Can I fight for myself? What does the landlord need to prove in court that I am a clear danger? Any help would be appreciated.
