Question About Employment Contact

Card image cap

Hello! So I signed an employement contract at the beginning of this year and am seeking some advice.

The beginning of the contract has 1 paragraph stating this contract is for 1 year of employment in exchange for a continuing education program my employer funded. There’s also a termination clause that says “Notwithstanding any provision of this Agreement to the contrary” I may terminate this agreement with 60 days notice.

My question is - will I be liable for cost of the continuing education if I terminate employment? Nowhere in the contract does it have a payback clause. It only says the contract is to continue for a full year in exchange for the CE.

By the time I leave, I will have worked 6 months since signing the contract. I finished the CE 2 months prior to signing the contract and I believe it cost the employer about $3-4k.

TIA!
