Property Company Wants Us To Paint Whole House Before Leaving Our Rented Property. (alabama)
My family and I have been renting a house for 3 years. We are ending the lease due to a military move and they are wanting us to paint the house. They stated in our lease we have to leave the place move in ready. But this seems ridiculous to me. We were planning on patching any holes and cleaning but they stated that we have to paint the house otherwise we will be charged for the service plus 25% admin fee. I really cannot find much about Alabama law but this doesn’t seem legal. The worse part of the paint, it was literally the cheapest paint used and we could not wipe the walls at all. The paint just rubbed off so we couldn’t get away with just leaving it and them not noticing. Is there any resources for us to look over? I have a feeling we might be going to small claims court over this.
