Petty Theft

A couple days ago me and two of my friends got caught shoplifting at target. The amount of stuff we got it was probably worth around 200 but it wasn’t individual because all of us just put it in one bag so they didn’t blame the total on one person. It was just all of us. However, all three of us have to go to court and I was wondering if most people just get charged a fee or what do you have to even say at court none of us have ever been to court before and we are all freaking out because it is two months away and we don’t even know what to do with ourselves. Let alone the fact that it’s probably going to stay on our record and ruin everything for us. When we first got caught, the cops were telling us that they are going to take us to jail straight from there but they ended up letting us go home and then told us that we have court, so does anyone have any advice for what we should do at court or what they are even going to ask us I mean they have all the footage, and they even said that the items were all stolen at the same time, so it wasn’t like each one of us had a specific amount. We don’t know what to expect, but we are from California and if anyone has any advice, please reply.
