Parents Savings Disappeared From Bank Account

Hi everyone

I hope I'm asking at the right place

My parents are flying to Chicago next week to sort it out.

Here is a letter my father wrote to the bank that explains everything.

For: Our Bank, Recovery department Sent by: customers of the bank 2023 Issue: Our accounts disappeared from bank records in 2022. We opened two accounts during our stay in USA, one a checking account and the second a savings account. We left back to our home out of USA and we live at the same address since then. We left a significant amount of money in both accounts. Our accounts were active for a few years and inactive after that. We received statements of our accounts regularly from the bank. During the last years we tried to transfer an amount of money from our checking account but we did not receive any reply from the bank. The last statements received were from 2022. What I found out only a week ago in these statements is that all our money was withdrawn from the accounts and not by us. During the last week we made 5 calls to the bank, we sent an ID authentication but nobody at the bank could find any records of our names and accounts in the bank records. It looks very strange and suspicious that all our record at the bank was wiped out without any trace. I was told that there is a possibility that our money was transferred to the State due to account inactivity. I checked with State Treasurer's Unclaimed Property and there is no money to be claimed on our names. It looks that no transfer of our money was made from our bank to the State. We expect you to find the record of our money withdrawal and if you are not able to perform that to reactivate our account and return back all our money. Copies of our last received statements will be sent through your secure email. Our ID authentication will be included.
